  1. tako:

Did anyone see U of H's 2014 recruits play in the Junior Nationals? If so, will anyone be willing to share what they observed? -thanks

  2. LC:

    Saw them all

*** Castillo going to be good.Saw her block a couple times straight down and with force. Wave doesn't utilize there middles much but she got a few kills on quick sets and a slide that looked good.

*** Imi Ike girls are really good defensive players which is what the local girls are famous for.

*** Greeley is good, played all 6 rotations, most effective on the left ,passing was OK, nothing special about her serving.

*** Only saw Kendra once and she played on the right side, don't really remember anything that was spectacular about her, didn't see her setting.

*** Gianna,T-street uses two libero so she was in and out.nothing spectacular about her that I recall either.

With D1 being so different than high school or club ball I think it's kinda unfair to say how good they will be in college at this stage. Some will improve quickly and some will take longer. This season will be interesting to say the least.

  3. Cruisecontrol:

    Hoowee! SSC here I come!

  4. jmy:

USA is in trouble if they can't stop Sheilla & Jacqui...

  5. formerlywarriorfan:

The US can't stop Thaisa either.

  6. formerlywarriorfan:

I was impressed with Castillo, Granato, Greeley and Kahakai. I did not see Koelsh and Guinasso.
Castillo was the biggest revelation as I already knew the rest were quite good. For just finishing her junior year, IMO she has flashes of already being as good as someone like Jade Vorster was this past season but with more power. I think she will be a starter for sure (sooner rather than later). Hope the coaches keep her in the middle.

I expect Greeley to have a similar freshmen year that Nikki had last season but she is a much better back row player.

I am excited about the wahine middles and they should be very good even when Magill graduates with Castillo, Maglio, Huff and hopefully Mitchem.

  7. tako:

Thank you all for you insightful comments. Last year, similar comments/observations were made of Nikki and they were right on.

  8. 'ohanaInBellingham:

Yes, thank you, LC and FW, for the color!

  9. WhyWhat:

I actually hope Castillo plays OH at UH. Hartong was a good middle, and she tuned out to be an excellent outside. A lot of people wondered if she trained/played at OH earlier on in her career...how much better she could have been at that position. I feel the same with Castillo. I believe her potential at OH will benefit UH more in the future.

  10. Warriors!!:

Wong has out there recruiting hard and the results are showing!! Let's go Bows!!

  11. Beauston:

Anyone know if Khalia Lanier has committed to any school? This girl is the real deal sharing the same accolades Falyn and Kanani received back in the day.

  12. formerlywarriorfan:

Khalia Lanier is the real deal, probably a future 3 or 4 time ncaa all american and IMO the top 2016 recruit. I believe she is still uncommitted.
Would love UH to get her but unfortunately she looks exactly like the kind of elite athlete Penn State gets.
A class of Lanier, Noreen Iosia, and Kathryn Plummer would be incredible. I feel more confident in UH getting Iosia ( has hawaii ties) and Plummer ( she's all over the UH sand Facebook page).
