Hawaii takes set 1 25-22, needed three swings to end it. Might have been a portend of things to come

Warriors looked to be in control of Set 2, up 8-1 14-8, 18-12

Anteaters switched setters, going with Stork, and OHs in La Cavera

UCI rallied to tie at 21, the first point of a 6-0 run that tied the match at 1

UCI takes Set 3 25-18 and it wasn't that close, with UCI braking a 12-12 with 7 straight points. UH then switched setters at 19-12.

UH had 7 blocks in Set 1, 1.5 in Set 2, 0 in Set 3.

    That they do

  3. Cindy Luis:

UH out of rotation, point and serve to UCI, tied 1-1

  4. Don:

What happened to the line judge? There's a new one on R1 corner.

  5. Cindy Luis:

    don't know.

  6. Cindy Luis:

UCI pulling away at 18-10. make that 19-10 on another ace. now 20-10

  7. jmy:

  8. Cindy Luis:

  10. FormerlyWarriorfan:

This is a huge disappointment not sure what happened in the middle of set two but this is embarassing , uci isnt even all that great this year.

Daniel Stork made a big difference as I heard. No wonder, he is the son of former USA gold medal winning setter, Jeff Stork. Also, La Cavera. this is one match I'm not sorry I can't watch but only listen to. Sounds like our liberos lost their ability to pass well. Well, Hawaii will need to regroup for Sunday. Maybe they'll do better just as they did with Long Beach.

  12. Cindy Luis:

Yep, complete breakdown, especially serve receive.
    UI wins 25-14

FormerlyWarriorfan, are you the same as Warriorfan? Have you turned sour on the team since they aren't performing to par?

  14. Cindy Luis:

    10. UCI is more than decent, otherwise they wouldn't be 9-7 in MPSF and appear to be surging at the right time, 3 in a row, 5 of last 6. Back to back 3-2 losses at USC and to BYU. Lost twice to UCLA, lost road matches at Stanford and Long Beach. Opened with six matches on the road, went 2-4, losing at Loyola, Pepperdine and SC.

Nick West was Hawai'i go to guy and they came up short against UC Irvine and Kevorkian, who is 6-10 or 6-11. They went with the two tall man to match up, Hawai'i came up short. What if they mixed it up and bring others to try to throw them off guard? That might help.
