NCAA Men's VB playoffs need to be expanded..

  2. Cindy Luis:

They do. but until they get more teams, they won't The proposal is for an eight-team tourney. Been on the table for several years.

  3. dedicatedfan:

Cindy, I believe the Big West Conference has to come up with more Men's Volleyball teams, and move away from the MPSF, before you see an eight-team tourney.

  4. dedicatedfan:

Right now there are 5 Big West teams, in the MPSF, if they can get 3 more teams, then they can break away from the MPSF and have their own conference.

  5. Alohilani:

Zarcovic was named MPSF POW according to Hawaii athletic website. Congrats.

  6. Cindy Luis:

DF, I don't know if that will happen. The Big West admin runs the MPSF.
Blame the Pac-12 for not wanting ot run a conference and those schools for not offering the sport.

The one possibility was the PacWest DII teams sponsoring men's volleyball. There was talk (again) of that happening when Cal Baptist joined and Grand Canyon was still in the PacWest. But Grand Canyon is in the MIWA for volleyball and is making the move from the PacWest to DI status.

The Hawaii schools have talked about adding the sport. UHH, HPU and BYUH all had men's teams at one time. Those three, maybe Chaminade, could add men's volleyball and sand volleyball for women and keep their gender equity numbers even.

with the move to add sand volleyball, it would make sense that schools such as San Diego State and Loyola Marymount reinstate their men's VB programs. Then you start having some numbers.

Would love it if San Diego state and LMU brought back men's volleyball.
