This is their worse loss of the season. Although there were several earlier matches that they could/should have won this is their first really BAD loss. Yes, CSUN is ranked higher and is in going to be in the mix come playoff time but looking at their record I wasn't impressed. I didn't think they were good and I didn't see anything tonight to change my opinion. Yet Hawaii still manage to lose. Even without JP they should have been able to win.

For Hawaii, bad passing, bad setting, poor hitting, bad digging, poor serving, poor coaching--crappy all around. This loss stings more than any other this season.

Despite my rant I still have confidence they'll regroup and kick a** on Sunday.

  2. Ron:

Totally agree with rayson. This hurt.

  3. Don:

What hurt more is that the MPSF keeps sending us the refs that have no control over the match...CSUN was whining all night and Verna had no control over the players, Jeff Campbell (CSUN coach), or the play. She really looked like she was out of her element with the speed of the men's game....

  4. warriorfan:

That no call in set 3 on the jace olsen hit definitely affected the outcome of the match but Can't really whine about reffing when they play bad all match. They deserved to lose playing that way, definitely the worse game of the season.

    Sunday is must win.

  5. Alohilani:

Yes, they get a second chance Sunday night but remember if they make the playoffs, there is no 2nd night. It's one and done so they need to play better the first night from here on out.

I truly hope that German Guy decides to return next year, even tho it is for just one year. The team really needs him. If he does decide to return, with all the returning players, plus to 2 incoming freshmen from Hawaii, the Rainbow Warriors will be quite formidable next year. If not, you can expect about the same next year, as this year.

  7. Last Call:

Digg'n Na Wahine has the 2013/2014 tournament schedule posted. All I can say is I'm curious how the RPI is going to look in December.

  8. Cindy Luis:

Don, I think Verna had a bad night. She's usually better. She was here a couple of weeks ago and there were few complaints.

  9. Cindy Luis:

DF, Umlauft is not coming back.

I'm not worried whether the UH team will make the playoffs or not. Where will they send an 8th place team to play anyway? BYU. They're way ahead of everyone else. That's a long trip just to get creamed by them. I watched the match with Irvine and they came back after a two-set deficit to win in five sets thanks to Ben Patch's 35 kills. He's getting better and better. When I think about that, it will be more merciful not to make the playoffs this year. This is still a rebuilding year. Key is recruiting and improving for next year.

  11. Cindy Luis:

VF, don't think BYU is that far ahead but the win over UCI the other night gave them a little cushion.
I thought BYU was the No. 1 team this year, surprised UCI was.

  12. warriorfan:

Why would UH not want to make the playoffs, BYU is not invincible especially with the way Sander has been playing lately. I think he is hurting. Patch went off against UCI but he's a freshmen and won't be playing like that all the time.

I think Charlie needs to make the playoffs for his future IMO. He misses again and then for some reason doesn't make it again next year he's gone.
