  1. Cindy Luis:

    Warriors hit .312 to UCI's .333
Irvine with 2 aces, UH 0
what hurt Hawaii is service errors. 7 SEs, killed a lot of momentum. think it's a sympton of fatigue.
They're going with 2 liberos, Phelps and Cheape
    Sedore 3-0-8, Marks 1-0-1, Zarkovic 8-2-14, Averill 3-0-3, Holt 0-2-3.

  2. Cindy Luis:

UCI out quickly in Set 2, 3-0. reminds me a little of the second night at The Beach after it went 5 the night before.

  3. Cindy Luis:

Warriors have rallied to tie at 4. SE by Tillie, 2 UCI hitting errors.

  4. Cindy Luis:

Warriors take the lead at 7-5 on dump by Ramos, block of La Cavera and a kill by Marks. Anteaters anser with 2 kills by Dejno to tie at 7.

  5. Cindy Luis:

Set 2 staying tight. Warriors have pulled away to a 13-10 lead. TO UCI.
Dejno having a better night 7-3-14, Tillie at 4-1-7. Looks like Holt is sitting Set 2.

  6. Cindy Luis:

Warriors pulled away at 17-11 but UCI has closed to 18-16. West blocked, West hitting error, Zarkovic blocked. TO UH.

  7. Cindy Luis:

Bad rotation. UCI Has tied it at 18 and now gone ahead at 19-18. UCI now with 9 blocks. 4 coming in the last 7 plays. TO UH

  8. Cindy Luis:

UCI up 23-21. Don't see the Warriors coming back from being down 2-0 if that ends up the case.

  9. Cindy Luis:

    UCI closes it out 25-22.

  10. Cindy Luis:

    Sedore 9-2-23, Averill 4-1-5, Marks 5-1-9, West 1-2-3, Holt 0-2-3, Zarkovic 9-6-23.
    UCI's defense playing well. 20 digs to UH's 14.

  11. Cindy Luis:

UCI pulls away early in Set 3 at 4-1.

  12. Cindy Luis:

Now 6-1. same rotation that killed them in Set 2 with Mehring serving. TO UH.

  13. Cindy Luis:

Think the tank is empty.it's 11-4.

  14. Cindy Luis:

    15-6 at the media timeout.

  15. Alohilani:

They are at such a disadvantage - playing 4 games in 5 days.

  16. Cindy Luis:

got ugly real fast. fortunately it will be over soon. 20-11

  17. Cindy Luis:

agree that 4 in 5 is really tough

  18. Cindy Luis:

25-11. ouch. back in a bit

  19. jmy:

Oh well..So much for no UH-LBSU repeat...It's not just the 4 in 5; it's also having to play two top five teams in five days...Maybe they could schedule something one bottom team & one top team if they have to play four in a row on the road...

  20. Cindy Luis:

The league does the scheduling so ... Don't know if UCLA is a top 5 team this year but the Bruins are tough at home. it was a brutal road trip, no question.

  21. Alohilani:

Frankly I think the scheduler for the league could care less of how they schedule the teams.

  22. jmy:

Sorry...I thought that UCLA was #5 heading into this series...

  23. Cindy Luis:

Think the MPSF cares but it has a tough time scheduling because of the conflict with men's and women's basketball for the first 3 months. and the travel deal with UH adds a wrinkle. Plus UH tries to cut down on travel costs so they got 1 road trip with four matches this year. Notice they were the only team playing Mon-Tue this week.
Jmy, UCLA was tied for No. 6 last week, No. 7 this week. Wasn't referring to the poll, was thinking that they weren't a Top-5 team this season.

  24. volleyball fan:

Since other bloggers expected a 3-set loss like at Long Beach, I wasn't surprised. They must have faded away in the third set. Hawaii is really at a disadvantage her with long road trips. That is why it's so hard to recruit for Hawaii.
