WADE-Coached Teams Consistently Improve Night 2 Lessons Learned Over Night One

    KEEP Improving Warriors!

NOW Play Well Enough to WIN on the ROAD...

  2. Cindy Luis:

Quite the win for the Warriors. Impressed at how they held on when pushed and didn't give up. They kept swinging away. You live by the serve and die by the serve. Bad in the beginning but pretty good at the end. Liked how Zarkovic just kept at it, even when double teamed on the block. and Sedore probably quieted some criticts ... at least until tomorrow. '-)
It is freezing in here. Think there is a door open.
will have a comment from Shoji on another thread.
Timmer did serve well, 2 aces, 3 SE. but his serve caused a lot of problems.
Do wish the refs would get better but the Warriors seemed to not hold on to bad calls.

  3. Warriorfan:

I really like Sedore because he just keeps banging away no matter what.
I did like seeing Thomas get some playing time, although Im surprised he didn't play more after set 2.
I still have some issues with the set location but Joby really does a stellar job in the backrow, HI has two liberos on the floor with him starting.

  4. Warriorfan:

By the way I really hope Timmer gets a shot to hit, or that Wade keeps starting him every set, so he can have more than one service run.

  5. Cindy Luis:

Re Thomas. He is athletic, gives a different look but think the issue is blocking and passing. If I remember correctly, he got tangled up on the block and looked a little confused. can't blame him though.
I agree with the set location but the passing could be better too. Ramos plays really good defense as well.

  6. Alohilani:

What do you mean about critics about Sedore - are you talking about fans? You know us fans -we are never satisfied unless hawaii wins. Isn't it correct that Hawaii is in about 6Th or 7th place in the MPSF - didn't they jump up a few spots with tonight's win?

  7. Warriorfan:

They are actually 10th place right now but they have easily had the toughest schedule so far, already played BYU, Pepperdine, Long Beach and Stanford twice.
If only they won the first matches against long beach and stanford, they would be top 5 :(

  8. rayson:

Excellent win for the Warriors. Hope bigger crowds come. Gotta love how every match is a roller coaster ride. They're so streaky but when they're playing at their best they can beat anyone. Now they need to show they can win on the road.

  9. Cindy Luis:

if you notice, I put a smiley after I wrote that. Just saying that there's been some criticism on this blog about Sedore ... Ramos, etc.
    The MPSF ... pretty tight all the way through. not doing this on percentage but games behind leaders 1 BYU 5-1, 1. Long Beach 6-2, 3 Irvine 5-3 4 Stanford 4-3 4 ,UCLA 4-3, 4 Pepperdine 4-3, 7 Cal Baptsit 2-2 8 Hawaii 3-4 8 USC 2-3, 8 UOP 2-3. 11 Northridge 2-4, 12 UCSB 2-5, 13 UCSD 2-5, .

I was just reading the Media Guide and the outlook article made it seem like Thomas was the answer at middle blocker. Pretty surprised he hasn't played much. So Wade really likes Kanetake as second libero, he has moved ahead of Phelps, who now was asked to hit from the left. What's up with Scott Hartley? Didn't he win a starting job at the end of last season?

  11. cold:

Initially I think Thomas was suppose to be the answer at middle. He did start the season @ BYU in the middle.

  12. Warriorfan:

I was looking forward to seeing how athletic Thomas was, but he's not getting much of a shot. I guess cause he's still learning to block, but he was one of the top blockers in junior college , he will figure it out eventually.

  13. Warriorfan:

    I wish Thomas was redshirted..

  14. karmady:

Cindy, I was impressed at how they shook off questionable calls too.. pretty impressive for such a young team in such a tight match. With all the position switching I'd be interested to see them try Thomas at another position. The middles are doing well, seems a shame to have his leaping ability on the bench.

  15. Safinator:

huge fan of Siki. His serve receive routine is awesome and with so much confidence. This UH team is awesome. Don't let the record fool you. top 5 teams are aware of the talent. just feel bad for Wechsen, Olsen and even West.. hope they can get some playing time.
